A Virtual Hug for EVERY Woman on Mother's Day

Today is complicated. For as many women who are celebrating the joys and blessings of motherhood today, there are probably an equal number whose pain is amplified. Whether a woman has struggled with infertility, the devastation of losing a child or a mother, the wounds caused by abandonment, abuse and neglect, there are countless reasons that Mother’s Day is a day to survive instead of celebrate.
Whether today is a day of rejoicing or of sorrow for you (or both), I want to encourage you. I’d actually like to give you a hug, but since that’s forbidden right now, please accept this virtual hug! <<>>
As women, whether or not we are biological mothers, we are uniquely privileged. Stop and think about the fact that only women are physically able to carry another life within ourselves from conception to birth. That fact is truly remarkable! (Only the male seahorse can do that. I can’t wait to ask God about that anomaly!)
Because of our uniqueness, we are wired to nurture. I really believe it is part of our DNA as women. The big question: what do we do with that innate ability?
Whether or not we have biological offspring, we can encourage others. We can affirm. We can comfort.  We can listen. We can share wisdom. We can give of ourselves. We can shepherd. We can love.
Most importantly, we can reflect Jesus by how we live our lives, and we can share our faith in Him.
For those who are suffering today, I am not trying to minimize your pain. For those who are missing their children today, I am with you. For those who are celebrating this day surrounded by those you love, I thank God for your joy.
But whatever your circumstances, please embrace the unique calling God has given you as a woman. As a nurturer. Commit afresh to using your precious life to making a difference in the lives of others.
Happy Mother’s Day, Friends. And here’s a second virtual hug!<<>>

"Let me give you a new command: Love one another. In the same way I loved you, you love one another."
